Re: JK Rowling and The Read In!--Need Your Help!

Hello LM_NETTERS!

As most of you know, last Spring, The Read In! and LM_Net joined forces to
promote literacy and keep librarians and library/media specialists informed
and excited about reading. (Not that any of you need it!) ;-)

Here is the latest:

When I started online nine years ago, I was one of the first 100 educators to
utilize the "new" medium called Scholastic Network! Because they started
small on AOL, I got to know and work with many of those in the upper branches
of the organization. With this said, this week I approached the powers that
be to ask for a half hour time with JK Rowling on May 10, 2001, The Read In!

The response was encouraging to one point...it was passed on to those who
schedule her time. While I do not expect to hear immediately because of all
the current hoopla, a thought struck me...

If they knew that there were so many others behind this request, we just
might get a commitment of her time! I am writing to my own listserv to elicit
responses, too...

So, here is what I would like to ask of you: If you would like to join us May
10, 2001 to chat with Ms. Rowling, I would like to compile a list of names,
locations, school names and send one long email to my contact person. I think
it would be a powerful statement...

Here is what I would need:
Your name, school name and city/state/country

BUT...please do not reply to ALL on this list...I would much rather you sent
the response to me directly:

I figure it is worth a "shot"!
