Does anyone have any experience with any of the titles in Classroom Connects' Social Studies or Science Hotlinks programs? As I understand it, you buy a book ($29) that lists links to selected/appropriate sites to a particular subject such as explorers, volcanoes, etc. However, you need to pay over $500 if a building site license is needed to access these preselected sites [I'm assuming a password is needed?]. Our computer technology specialist came to me wanting to know if our library budget would buy the "books" and is considering using her software budget to purchase the site licenses. The individual topics covered would be used in our 4th and 5th grade curriculums. It seems like a lot of money to have access to sites that should be free--are we really paying for someone to trim down the number of possible sites to a more manageable/appropriate number?
