Harry Potter Costumes

I am teaching a two-week class in the library next week in which the kids
will read "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and, among other
activities, dramatize favorite scenes.  Can anyone give me ideas about how
to make the Hogwarts robes on a very skinny shoestring budget?  I'd really
like to have costuming because it adds so much, but am not very clever about
materials, etc.  Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance.
