Hi all. Thanks to all who took the time to respond. I wish I had more to offer. My original post: I have been asked to find some information about what other schools do to reduce the number of students who arrive at school late in the morning/afternoon. I am not referring to arriving late for a class, but rather arriving late for morning and/or afternoon registration. We are interested in doing something other than giving daily detentions as a consequence. Do you have any suggestions regarding consequences that actually work to reduce student lates? Responses: Just a note about the campus I am on. The staff is instructed to lock the doors after the tardy bell rings and all students must have a tardy pass to be admitted to class. After three tardies that student is given On Campus Suspinsion and additional tardied can involve Saturday school, and suspension. The key to for all of the staff to buy into whatever is agreed on. ___________________________ 3 tardies = 1 absence, 5 absences wo/doctor note = no credit Kathy Thomson Teacher-Librarian S.
