I'm not sure if this will help, but I lose books from my classroom library, too. I don't have any kind of check out system, and kids are 'on their honor' to return a book when they finish reading. Needless to say, LOTS of books disappear. So... a week before the end of school, I boxed up all of my classroom books. I offered one raffle ticket for each paperback book that kids brought in, mine or others (mine are labeled on the front with a florescent label that says my name). On the second to last day of school, I'm raffling off 2 Borders gift certificates for $10 each and 3 copies of the hardcover Guinness Book of World Records that I purchased with Troll Book Club Points. The books are coming back, and I figure it will cost $20 to get much more returned!
