Somebody was puzzling over what happened in 1607....puzzle no longer. This was the date of the English settlement at Jamestown, Va. (John Smith, Pocahontas, etc.). What I found interesting about this test was how practical the math questions were for that time and place....the volume of a wagon box, the cost of a ton of coal, etc. This was real-world math then. No algebra, geometry or calculus. Hmmm. Also, as the joke goes, there was a lot less history then! but think of all the momentous events of this century, and think how simple America's story and destiny seemed a century ago. I love this time capsule of a test. I think it goes back to my childhood desire to be Laura Ingalls Wilder. :-) Julie Dahlhauser GED teacher Brownsville, TN JulDahl@aol.com "Books are immortal sons defying their sires." --Plato =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
