New position, can use advice.

To anyone,

   I recently was accepted to fill the position as the Media Specialist at
an already existing Middle School.  The lady that is going to be the full
time aid covered the entire Library for the last school year with another
aid.
   I know that I will be relying on her for information about the general
occurances in the school and it's Media Center, so I intend to approach her
very carefully and in a very friendly manner, however, advice on this would
also be helpful.
   I am mainly, however, seeking any tips  or places to search for tips on
doing quick evaluations of the collections, organization of my and the aid's
time and duties as well as how to approach new collegues about the flex
schedule and their needs in support.
