media equipment checkout/in system

Good day!

I am a computer technician in a college library seeking information about
small-scale checkin/checkout systems for media equipment.  Our technology
center coordinator has asked our library for help in finding a system he can
use to keep track of where his equipment is going.  If any of you have a
system in place that might be adaptable to a multi-building higher ed
situation, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
