title of hat book

I have a teacher looking for a particular book with a hat theme.
 The story goes as follows: A boy makes a paper hat, and becomes
a fireman and Peter Pan.  Then he makes a boat.  You make a paper
hat to go along with a story.

Does anyone have the title/author for the book?
