I also use the Web for most of my research. Partly, because it is more current. There is no way I can buy a new set of encyclopedias, almanacs, etc. every year. Partly because it is handy. It is often easier to click on a bookmark than find a book on the shelves. Partly because there is so much on the Internet that we will never have in my small rural library. Yes, you do have to teach and practice discriminating use of information, but you need to do that with books too. I am beginning to see almost an overreaction to the Internet vs. books. Where books are "good information" and the Internet is "bad information." There are as many books with bad information as there are web sites. The patron (or librarian) needs to use good evaluation skills in both cases. There are less and less things that are easier to find in my library than on the Internet. I think this trend will continue. It wouldn't surprise me to find publishers eventually publishing all non-fiction on the Internet. You will subscribe to a site, much like you do now for Ebsco. You can view the book online, print out the pages you need, or download it to your computer.
