GEN: Tip For Replies to LM_NET Messages, Editing May Be Needed

Dear LM_NET Colleagues,

Recently I have noticed an increase in the number of messages appearing on
LM_NET which are replies to prior messages. In a number of those messages
are the completely quoted contents of the original message. In most cases,
this is "total inclusion" is unnecessary and adds to the time needed to
read and understand the message. A bit of editing of the message would
have been in good order.

It is a kind and thoughtful reply-message which has been edited such that
the reader only has to read the essence of the original. Of course, it is
the replier who determines this, and who makes the message enjoyable and
more useful, or does not do so and burdens the reader with needless
reading.

In particular, we would recommend that youplease take the time to remove
the following part of the message, which is automatically attached to all
posted LM_NET messages:
