TECH: Saving PowerPoint

I am using a MAC Performa 6360 with System 7 and recently upgraded to
PowerPoint 1998 from 1994.  Now I am unable to save PowerPoint programs.
 Whenever I try to save them to a disk I get the message that this is
not a PowerPoint presentation.  I didn't have this problem before I
installed the 1998 edition.  Can someone please tell me how I can get my
presentations to save on a disk again?
