Last week I asked for help with selecting a general music magazine for browsing at the high school level. I didn't get many responses but those I got can be summarized. (Please - I do not mean to open up the debate on Rolling Stones, I am just reporting) Rolling Stones - Not always considered appropriate, liked by high school students, indexed in many databases. Guitar Player - Liked by some, considered to esoteric by some, indexed in Info Trac. (We have a Guitar class so I really have to get this one) Spin - Liked by the students - not always considered appropriate. The articles in it are so good though.....I get Downbeat and Guitar Player. Blaze - mostly Rap music Cream - listed, no comments. I purchased a copy of Rolling Stones and Spin at the newstand, looked over both and put them out for review. While both have cigarette and alcohol ads, so do some of my other general interest magazines. Am still working on my decision. Thanks to all who helped. Deborah J. Stafford Gen. H.H.
