SEC: Block Scheduling

We are in our 4th year of 4X4 block scheduling and are trying
to evaluate its advantages.  Several of us think that the
students would be better served if one period in the day were
split into 2 classes (45 to 50 minute periods) so that some
classes could meet all year. I think one calls this modified
block.  Please share any experiences that you have had with
this, either switching or modifying the block.  We NEED some
help from those who have been there.  Thanks.
