Hello friends... Personal & School background: I have been working as a librarian in my school for the past month. There are 500 students with age range between: 10 yrs [Junior 6] up to 15 yrs [5th Form]. Unfortunately, as yet, most of the users are from Junior 6 with a handful of others from Form 1. Before I started work in this school [no need to mention the usual talk about: outdated books; no librarian; mess; etc. etc.], the admin bought some 36 Classics: Dracula; Robin Hood, Peter Pan, The Invisible Man, etc. etc. They are well presented books and at the moment, the students are reading them. Thus, I am taking the opportunity to start the first library activity in my school called - Book Discussion. The following is its description: - the student has to give a small presentation of the Classic read; - he has to make a two page book review so that when we have Internet it can be put on; - the other students will ask some questions [some spontaneously and some prepared by me] to encourage discussion; - we will have a play about the book read which will be lead by the student who read that particular book. What I would like to know from you is the following: 1. your comments 2. suggestions 3. if I should dedicate a fixed day for such an activity and afterwards introduce other activities like story telling; talent shows etc. which in return will have their own fixed day. TIA - I'll post a hit PS - you can use my ideas if you like too and if they are stupid...throw them away!
