ELEM->chapter book needed with has elements of personification or

Hi folks - I have teachers who want a different chapter book to use with
their second graders as a classroom read. They have a couple things they'd
like - one is that they want good examples of personification and/or
foreshadowing and two - they want the story to take place in a cold place,
like winter in the north, the arctic or something along those lines. And
at the same time this should NOT be a wolf or a sled dog story (see note
below).  I know this is a strange request but if you have a suggestion,
please send it directly to me.
        Note: For your information, George's Julie stories are way
too old, Stone Fox is already being used, and we do several other units
on sled dogs and the Iditarod.  TIA for any help you can provide.
