A couple of terrific titles for some reflective summer reading are THE = EARTH IS ENOUGH and THE SPINE OF TIME by Harry Middleton. Perhaps somewhat = of a cross between Henry David Thoreau and Isaac Walton, Middleton's = passion was the wild streams of the Ozarks and the Appalachians, with = their wild trout--but his writing is no more about trout than Pirsig's = MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE was about motorcycles...they just happen to = represent for him the blood coursing through the veins of the planet, and = add to that his gift for turning the language into lyrics for the most = beautiful ballad you've heard in a long time, and you'll be in for a = wonderful treat. (Also a terrific gift for a graduate with a philosophical = bent.)
