Thanks so much for the following suggestions! ******************************************************** There is an excellent adapation from DK as one of the Eyewitness Classics series. All of these are adaptations of classics, but are very well done and contain all kinds of illustrations, sidebars, etc. that add to the story and are not too long. (note: this is not yet published - will be Jan 2001) ******************************************************** Our second teachers just received a set of Robinson Crusoe books from Scholastic Book Clubs. They are called like Scholastic Junior Classics. They were able to acquire these free w/bonus points from the Scholastic monthly book club (SeeSaw, I think). These are very easy readers for third/fourth. You may want to try "Great Illustrated Classics" version adapted by Malvina Vogel (Baronet Books/Playmore Publishers, 1992) Playmore Publisher # 212.924.7447. The illustrations are not great. Good Luck. P. Lakvold East Baton Rouge Parish Baton Rouge, LA ********************************************************* I think it's available from Great Illustrated Classics. The level of my children would never be able to comprehend the actual classics so I read these to them. The same story but shorted and written where they can understand it easily. I don't have this title but I think I have seen it in this series. There is a picture on every other page (whole page) and it's very large type.
