Janet and netters - >teaches English as a second >language has asked for a list of English words that have double >consonants. I did a search on Merriam Webster online -- http://www.m-w.com/ using *bb* as the search term, and came up with 310 words, some proper nouns. But that's sure a way to MAKE a list. Do a search, copy the list to a word processing doc, do the next search (e.g. *cc*, *dd* etc.) and copy/paste until you have the whole list -- then just delete the words you don't want to use. -- Joyce Conklin, San Mateo UHSD librarian (ret) San Mateo CA bkwoman@pacbell.net Macintosh 8600 OS 8.6 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
