We too have been barraged by yet another AOL campaign. Now they are going
after the schools with their latest effort. IMHO, AOL is a very invasive
piece of software. When you install it, it writes files all over your hard
drive. Many home users I have talked to fail to understand the basic
workings of the Internet because they have only used the AOL interface and
are unfamiliar with IE or Netscape. I teach Internet classes at night for
the community college and many of the adults I teach are AOL users. Many of
them have never left the AOL website because of the interface and their
lack of experience. They think AOL is the Internet. We have been warned in
our school district not to use it. I imagine the tech support people are
having nightmares about what problems would ensue with the installation of
this product.
