GEN: Greek mythology and current day

Dear all,

I have a seventh grade teacher who is looking for ideas on how to
relate Greek mythology to current times.  She needs to plan a project
that shows kids the influence that mythology has on current times
(i.e. FTD florist symbol is Hermes, word roots, literature
connotations, etc.).  Does anyone out there have a teacher who does
something similar in their school?  Any ideas of projects,  a
listing of influences/symbols used in current times such as
advertising and businesses, etc.?

Any help would be wonderful!
