Nov. 2000 Weed of the Month

Good morning LM_NETters!

This month's topic is Nutrition.  Nutrition and learning are closely
linked. Poor nutrition leads to poor school performance. Your collection
on nutrition might have stayed the same over the past years but current
surveys show that the nutrition habits of today's students have become
worse. It's time to evaluate the old titles and replace them with new
materials to reach those students.

A brief explanation of Weed of the Month for new lm_netters: The SUNLINK
Weed of the Month began in September, 1997, as an effort to help provide
Florida's School Library Media Specialists with guidelines and
suggestions for weeding their collections a little at a time as well as
for adding quality materials. The project idea and specific suggestions
came from media specialists around the world via LM_NET, and SUNLINK's
Weed of the Month parallels a similar effort taking place throughout the
country. A section of a school library media collection is identified
each month during the school year (September through May) as a weeding
target.
