GEN: History of school librarianship.

Dear Netters,
Does anyone know of a book or books or any other source that chronicles the
history of school librarianship? One of my collegues who moonlights in our
public library was asked for this info by a MLS student and we can't come up
with anything. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
