In our school district, we are required to maintain a shelflist as well as our automated program. The philosophy is that the shelf list will always be there, even if the automated system breaks down. Date: Fri, 3 Nov 2000 12:21:19 -0800 From: "Yates, Kathy" <kyates@BETHEL.K12.OR.US> Subject: GEN: SHELFLISTS OBSOLETE OR NOT? Are those of you with automated card catalogs still maintaining a shelflist? I do have 2 daily back-ups for our system but I guess the shelflist is my security blanket. I have found that I access it quite a bit for those older materials to check prices or vendor. I think I would probably keep what I have for a while but perhaps it's not necessary to keep adding the new material to it? I sure would appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks so much for your help.
