HIT: "Open" concept library

I want to thank you all for your thoughtful responses!  The overwhelming majority 
opposed "open" libraries due to theft (intentional & unintentional) and security, 
noise, and general distractions.  Lack of wall space for displays and shelving was 
another negative.

Positives for open libraries included being the "heart" of the school, and better 
cooperation and integration with teachers and the curriculum.

I may be contacting some of you for more information. If anyone would like a more 
detailed HIT...email me and I'll do what I can....this is book fair week.
