Hi, Just had to share this with my "sedentary" friends (well, I presume you're sitting down as you read this!! :-) ). I had decided that we would have a "favorite Book character" election this year. We started with "nominating primaries" where every student nominated their favorite and the choices were narrowed down to 3 for 2/3, 4/5, and 6-8 and 4 for K/1 (there were ties). Then the kids made "campaign" posters and put them up around the school. We would have done more but other activities interfered. Today they voted. I had divided the school into four levels. The K/1s voted for Arthur, the 2/3s and 4/5s voted for Harry Potter (no surprise there). The big surprise (when we had the nominations I told them it could be any character they liked, even from when they were little provided they still liked that character best) was in 6/7/8s - CURIOUS GEORGE - and it was a very close vote and kids from all three grades voted for the mischievous monkey. I was kind of sorry I allowed Harry Potter to be nominated because I'd love to know who would have won without him. Next time!!! Just had to share.
