A fellow (non-LMNET) librarian asked me today at my department bridal
shower, "Hey you think those computer librarians could find out about a
book for me?" I told her I'd try. <g>

SHe sas it is a picture book, from the 1940's or early 1950's, with
black and white illustrations, about a family that lives in a one room
house, and then they decide it is too crowded , so they keep adding
rooms. Eventually the house is very long and the family needs to wear
skates to travel around it. Apparently, the house becomes a tourist
attraction and train tracks are build along side it. Then the family
decides, after meeting in a room one day, that they don't like a big
house, so they tear down the extra rooms, and go back to living in one
room... then they get tired of that (at which point you are told to turn
to the front of the book and start the story over again ...)

Any hints on a title or author??? I'd like to impress this tech-shy
colleague with the power of the internet.
