Carol, I work in an elementary school and have 36 computers with internet access. The students use these for catalog access, research, classroom assignments, electronic resources, multimedia presentations, software training, intervention, large group instruction, etc. For research, the kids are guided to use the best resource for the job. Since they are in library in 35 minute sessions, it doesn't allow for wandering around without a plan of attack. So, for us, pre-search is a big part. As far as CD vs. internet. It really depends on the student and the source. We have some Amish students that are not allowed on the internet, so they love CD's. Others prefer to connect with an authority via the internet. Love the job? Sure! Why else would I teach 40 classes a week, have a 35 minute a day planning period, be a building tech coordinator, and the school webmaster? Marsha Marsha Sallee A.J.
