Original Target: Quick question. . . What policies do your elementary schools have in regard to WHO may use TVs and VCRs intended for instructional use in the classrooms? Recently, I have had requests from our Market Day parents and PTA Executive parents to use the TVs/VCRs after hours during their meetings. The use is for the children of the parents. I could go either way, however, in the past, overheads that were used have not been returned and I have had to go looking for them. Any thoughts would be appreciated! TIA, Jane Kantor Follow-up: It turns out that it is against copyright policy to allow parent groups to show a movie outside the home for entertainment purposes without a "Public Performance Movie License." I found this most interesting! I will admit that things are not comfortable with our PTA. They've had my principal in tears and actually worked against the district in a referendum we just won. So the truth is I didn't WANT to lend them a baby-sitting tool! *Snicker* I received some very helpful replies, reminding me of the goodwill I could generate, but all that is MOOT, I say MOOT! For more information on the copyright issue, go to http://www.movlic.com/copy.html It's very specific! Thanks a million to all!
