Thanks so much to all who responded. Once again, you are the best! Here is the summary: ______________ 35% Fiction 65% Non Fiction ______________ I've got 15 shelves of fiction, 12 of reference, and 22 of non-fiction. This is a 7-12 school of about 350 students. Hope this helps. _____________ In my library there are approximately 6 circulating non-fiction books to every one fiction book. I'd be interested in the HIT. _____________ In my current library the fiction section is 50%. In my previous library the fiction section comprised 40%. _____________ My fiction collection is about 1/7 th of my book collection. I would be interested in knowing what others have and if there are recommendations regarding the split. Thanks. _____________ my guess is about 10 non-fiction books to every 1 fiction. _____________ In my 9-12 library the fiction collection composes approximately 22 percent of the total number of bound volumes. Circulation figures show that fiction accounts for over 40 percent of books checked out. Go figure! ____________ What a good question! Mine is 16% of the total number of books in the library. However, I'd really like to get it up to about 20-25%. It will be interesting to see what other answers you receive.
