Using the EPA website for students (www.epa.gov/students, I think) the seventh grde science teacher at a former school and I worked together to develop a unit on environmental concernsciaicd rain, fossil fuels, water and air pollution etc. The website is excellent, content rich, and easy to navigate, but has so many nooks and crannies we considered it important to teach the navigation of it, making suggestions for searching within it, using the many charts and diagrams provided, splitting the screen for notetaking or cut-and pasting illustrations, and of course, accurate attribution. We also had backup with print reference sources, and the kids were able to expand on what was found at EPA with some of t he print sources, showing the value of both. Maureen S.
