My name is Pat Dunford and I teach in a K-5 elementary school in rural western North Carolina. While I am not the current librarian, I will be soon, as my media specialist is retiring. My question to the list is, how do I make the case for flexible scheduling in my school when the other teachers are not willing to give up that 45 minute planning period they get once a week while their kids are in the library? It is my opinion that our media center is highly ineffective and inefficient, but I am concerned that teachers will be afraid to try. Thanks for your attention.
