Several weeks ago, I promised a hit of the responses I received about my query concerning 3-year plans and visions you may have for your media centers. Alas and alack, there were none, although several of you requested a hit. Sorry. What I'll do, though, is include a couple more of the points we included as part of our action plan. This was in conjunction with the technology department and, therefore, has that focus. One thing we hope to do is to establish a single platform, rather than have a combination of various and sundry networked Macs (of different generations) and Gateways throughout our building. This certainly would help increase access to software and, also, facilitate professional development. Ongoing professional development is, of course, an important consideration. Next, our media center has two destination machines obtained several years ago as part of an LSTA minigrant. One is stationed pretty much all the time in a computer lab and the other in the media center when they are not being used in a classroom for instruction. They are wonderful but are oh so cumbersome to move from room to room. What we would like to do is locate a room where the media center machine could be set up, and classes would be brought to it rather than trucking it down the hallways. Karen S.
