Thank you to everyone who took the time to give me their comments about
MarcoPolo. A couple of people asked me to post a hit so here it is.

I’ve used it and it's not too bad. I did a search on native Americans. I
didn't find exactly what I was looking for but I did find music and art from
Native Americans.

Hi, one of our middle school teachers uses it all the time.

It is excellent but getting people to use it is another issue

I used it a couple of times. It's "o.k." I did not find anything so great
about it that it called me back to it. So I've let it lapse

I received Marco Polo training last Spring. I've been offering training to
teachers in our district ever since. What a wealth of material and vetted.
The credibility of all the sites is great. Teachers have liked the lesson
plans and info they've found. If ever you see that training is being offered
take advantage of it. The folks who trained us were classroom teachers
who've actually used the sites with *real* kids. Each time I explore Marco
Polo I find more stuff. It seems to be never ending.

I received a brochure and was curious about it, then our technology teacher
came in and she is ecstatic a bout it and talking to the principal about
purchasing it.

I trained in MarcoPolo last spring and believe it is a wonderful resource.
The site is available to everyone, but the training was helpful and joining
the listserve is another great way to get help from other educators.

I may be a bit biased because I worked with the MCI WorldCom Foundation on
putting the MarcoPolo search engine together but I think they have some
high-quality resources. Nearly all of their lessons and activities map to
national standards and come from national organizations. MarcoPolo has
recently put together guides to help teachers discover the different partner
sites as well as the MP search engine. If you go to the MarcoPolo page you
could request a guide through the feedback section of the site. I think the
usefulness also depends on what grades your school serves. There are some
good elementary resources but I believe there are more resources for the
middle and high school grades at this time. More resources are added by each
partner weekly and/or monthly. I guess you have to see if it is valuable for
you and your school but I think it's a great site.
