TARGET: Books about poverty, hunger, famine for elementary

        Dear LM_Net -
Our Oxfam America Fast is coming up in a couple of days and the teachers
are requesting books or videos that will relate to the fast (which calls
attention to poverty, hunger, and famine in America and around the world).
I'd like any ideas on titles that would present these issues, or stories
or books about sharing, generosity, empathy that could be appropriate in
introducing or expanding on these issues. In particular, we are looking
for books for grades PS-6. Thanks! I will post a hit with a list of
titles.
So far, we have Stone Soup, The Little Match Girl, and a couple of Jakata
Tales about generosity.
