The following call for papers is posted by AASL on behalf of Ann Symons: 67th Council and General Conference: International Federation of Library = Associations and Institutions IFLA Boston 19 - 25 August 2001 =20 CALL FOR PAPERS: OPEN SESSION OF THE SECTION OF SCHOOL LIBRARIES AND = RESOURCE CENTRES =20 We invite you to submit a proposal for a paper at the Open Session of the = Section of School Libraries and Resource Centres to be held during the = IFLA Conference in Boston. Proposed papers should cover the theme: School libraries: making a difference in learning. =20 School librarians have always known that an accessible, welcoming library, = well-resourced and professionally staffed, improves the lives of children = and young people. Increasingly there is evidence that leaning and = achievement is better when libraries and librarians are integrated into = the learning and teaching process. This Open Session of the Section will = consist of presentations that consider the ways in which libraries, books = and information make a difference. Proposals for contributions are sought now. =20 An abstract should accompany the proposal, of at least one page. =20 The deadline is 30 December 2000. The result of the selection process will = be announced by the end of January 2001. =20 =20 Papers should not exceed 10 pages, including references. In order to be = included in the conference papers, a camera-ready copy will be due by 11 = May 2001.
