I am posting a selection/weeding question for the Evergreen school district (30 schools) in Vancouver Washington. The district has a materials selection and a weeding policy. Neither policy directly addresses the issue of how to remove books already on the shelf which the Media Specialist thinks are not at an appropriate maturity level. Some in the district think this should be a selection issue and books in question should go through the challenge process. Others think this is a weeding issue and that the specialist should be able to remove books. What we would like is selection or weeding policy language which deals with this. Send responses direction to me and I will summarize for the whole group.
