Several ppl have asked why there were objections to the Wayside stories. The concerns focused on what seemed to the parent to be disrespectful behavior & language by the students in the stories. She also found one chapter to be "too frightening" for children (her child is a second grader). I know that some of us are surprised to hear these things but over the years we've heard all sorts of things so that nothing should surprise us anymore. I don't, however, mean to make light of the parent's concerns. I believe it's important that we respect parental concerns such as this. This parent simply wants what she believes to be best for her child. ========================================================================== "Obscenity and hate speech alike only become free speech issues when their foes turn from censure to censorship.
