Hello everyone!
Sorry this hit has taken me so long to post. I thank everyone who responded
to my question. You were all very helpful. I am going to make a list of
some of the responses I received.
Good role models
understand and appreciate style of writing
gets kids excited about reading
helps them understand how a book is made and published
better understand the art of writing
broaden childrens knowledge
understand writing and re-writing
identify more with literature
children really respond
library circulation increases dramatically
Connects kids to books in a way much more powerful than simply reading and
sharing them can.
Gives kids the opportunity to interact with people who have made writing and
illustrating their careers, thereby modeling this possibility for the
students
gives kids an appreciation of the process that creates the books that they
love.
Significantly forwards LITERACY EFFORTS in the school.
