Group- I'm trying to keep track of the software that I've ordered and had loaded in one high school. I don't seem to be doing a very good job of it at the moment. 1) Do you track individual machines that have software loaded on it, or do you simply track the number of loads for a piece of software, and then try and sort out where you can take off a load if it is needed somewhere else? (e.g. I've loaded all 20 and need one more some place else, so I take it off machine X to put it on Y because I know I only have 20 loads permitted.) 2) Do you use a spreadsheet or a database to track the information? Spreadsheet gives one a nice printout of where software is loaded by areas (e.g. labs, offices, etc.) but a database would allow one different reports and retrieval possibilities. 3) Any other tricks of the trade? I do have a clerk who can do this for me, but I'm not giving her very good direction and we can't seem to find the information at our fingertips when we need it. Also, we are having trouble finding software at times. We have it locked up but too many people in the media center have keys to the cabinet -- so a locked cabinet with many keys doesn't seem to be a good solution either. Thanks for the help.
