TARGET->Definition of the word "lyrophorous"

The word "lyrophorous" appears in th novel "Autumn of the Patriarch" by
Gabriel Garcia Marquez.  We have searched our dictionaries and the
Internet and cannot find the word.  It may be a "made-up" word by the
author, or a poor translation of the original Spanish.  Any clues as to
its definition will be appreciated.
