TECH: Purple Icons and MSWord

I could really use some good advice

The oddest thing happened when I opened up and then closed Microsoft 98 on
my Mac PowerPC.  Everything seems to work fine, but when I closed the
program all the Word icons on the desktop and in the folders turned
purple.  Even the little W icon on the right hand corner of the menu bar
is purple now.  I restarted, but the same thing happened again.

I have found that whenever the computer does something out of the
ordinary, it is often a harbinger of worse things to come.  Has anyone had
this happen, and do you know what the problem could be? Any suggestions
would be most appreciated.
