We had a not-so-great bookfair from scholastic last week here in New York City. We have been holding two fairs a year for the last five or six years. We always chose to opt for the non-profit option and sell the books for 50%. The fair itself has been run by a teacher and her class. They not only sell, but tally the sales, make charts, compare which classes sell the most, which books sell best, etc. A real learning experience. The problems this year included: 1. The fair did not arrive on the date we reserved it for, but several days late. 2. The selection of books was inferior to what we have come to expect from Scholastic 3. We were told that there will be no more 50% off sales and the new plan is similar to what you have in Virginia. We are not happy and are rethinking our bookfairs at this time.
