MID: AR

Our middle school is considering getting AR for the
building.  They are trying to say that the program
should be run entirely through the media center and I
am responsible for all of the maintenance and upkeep
of the program (including inputting student names and
passwords).  I contend that the program needs to be
part of a class like Language Arts or else the
students won't take it seriously.  AR is in place in
our elementary schools so the students have had
several years of it.  At the elementary schools, the
teachers in their classroom do all the maintaining of
the program.  They print reports and monitor the
students and keep track of student ids and names -
Something that would be thrust upon me.  Can some
other middle schools with AR let me know how it is
administered in their building?  Is it part of the
curriculum and what role does the librarian play in
this?  Not many of my teachers are in favor of this
program so there isn't a lot of support.  I am
beginning to feel overwhelmed.  Also, there are no
aides in my building to help.

I could use some help to convince others that this
isn't all my program.
