The urban legends site I referred to was http://urbanlegends.about.com/science/urbanlegends/?once=true& . This location goes directly to the e-mail virus and hoax section. While some of the references can seem humorous, the primary function of the site is not humor. It debunks the junk that we all get in our e-mail and that many of us propogate. Viruses are funny until you get one. The rest of the site is loaded with various categories of urban legends that I find a little easier to laugh at. It also has connections to such sites as darwinawards.com which is devoted to real stories ( "Darwin Awards celebrate Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by commemorating the remains of those who improved our gene pool by removing themselves from it.") that are hillarious (unless you happen to be related to the people who made the Ultimate Sacrifice. I have not confirmed the veracity of all the stories on Darwin Awards (although one did show up in a newspaper story I read), and it would be interesting to see if any of them also show up as urban legends.
