I have about 30 kids in a middle school media center in the morning for about 45 minutes before school starts. I love that they get free time to pursue their own interests (using internet, talking, roaming freely), but now I'm getting such a large crowd that I've even had a small fight break out. I really want to take advantage of this opportunity and use some of this early morning energy. How can I get some control while not taking the control from them? Anybody have suggestions for activities, programs, etc.? Also, has anyone tried writing groups and reading groups in the morning (poetry, mystery, etc.)? Thanks!
