Activities for the Landry News

I have a 5th grade teacher who is starting the book _The Landry News_ by
Andrew Clements with her students.  Has anybody done some activities with
this book that they thought worked well?  Obviously making a class
newsletter is one we've got, but anybody have anything else they've tried.
