Dear LM_NET, Here is some information about how to deal with e-mail address changes when you know ahead that yours will be changing. This is recommended even if your old address will be forwarding mail to your new address, due to the way LM_NET responds to return addresses. Here is what we recommend. Step 1. Sign off using old e-mail: If possible, while you have access to your (soon to be) old e-mail address, use it to sign off. Step 2. Resubscribe using your new e-mail: When you have your new address, simply resubscribe using that e-mail service. Step 3. If you can't do step 1 above: If you can't access your old address, then let me know what that address is, and I will drop it. SIGNING OFF: Here is how to sign off and then resubscribe. 1. Send an e-mail message to: listserv@listserv.syr.edu 2. In the first line of the message, type: SIGNOFF LM_NET and you will be dropped. (No other words are necessary.) RESUBSCRIBING: It is easy to re-subscribe to LM_NET. If you follow the instructions below, you should not have any trouble joining. (Tip: be sure to type the address _exactly_ as shown.) Please let me know if you need any more assistance. 1. Send an e-mail message to: listserv@listserv.syr.edu 2. In the first line of the message, type: SUBSCRIBE LM_NET Firstname Lastname (Of course, you would substitute your actual name for Firstname Lastname in the line, such as "SUBSCRIBE LM_NET Joan Doe" (No quotes necessary.) **Please note: The way LM_NET is handling requests for membership is being handled automatically by the Syracuse University listserv computer and software. The LM_NET listserv computer will respond with an informative message, which will ask you for a confirmation. You will then be added if you properly follow the directions (which are pretty easy.)
