Elem: Behavior

Hi,

I never thought I would be writing a letter like this, but it has come to
that point.

Classroom management has always been one of my strongest points.  Most of
the classes and students who come to the media center love the experience
and get caught up in the "magic."  For the first time in my life (I was a
classroom teacher for 22 years and this is my seventh in the media center),
there is a class where nothing works.

We have a teacher who was moved to kindergarten this year.  She is a lovely
person, but her classes are traditionally challenging.  There are 3 students
in her kindergarten this year who are more than I can handle with the 28
other children.  I will lose the class if I devote all my attention to the
challenges.

I have tried all the things I have used successfully in the past -- praise,
ignore/extinguish, inclusion, exclusion, etc.  My temptation is to say that
the teacher must keep those 3 students with her at all times.  (She uses the
time to use the rest room and make phone calls.)  I dread each time they
come into the media center, but I normally love working with students.  What
does this esteemed group think?
