Hi, again, I want to thank everyone who took the time to respond to my dilemma. Here is what I have decided to do. 1) I will talk to the guidance counselor about the "3". 2) I will ask the teacher to either remain with the students or have her assistant remain with them. 3) I will suggest that if she leaves the area, she take the 3 with her. My responsibility is with the 28 who want to be there and want to learn the many wonders of books. I am not asking the teacher to change her theory of "limited boundaries for young children." I am asking her to be responsble for them while they are in the media center. Thanks to all of you who offered suggestions.
